Parshah Vayishlach

Wrestling and becoming

Yaakov wrestles all night and emerges limping, and named Yisrael. Some victories leave a mark.

The struggle by the river is opaque on purpose. A man? An angel? Himself? Yaakov does not win by pinning his opponent. He wins by refusing to let go until he is blessed.

Real transformation often looks like this: a long night, an unclear opponent, a wound that stays. And a new name, because you cannot walk the same after.

This week, name the wrestle you are actually in. Not the surface one. The one that will, if you stay with it, give you a new name.
