Parshah Terumah

The gift that makes a home for the Divine

'Let them make Me a sanctuary, and I will dwell within them.' Not within it. Within them.

The Mishkan is built from voluntary contributions, 'from every person whose heart moves them.' The instruction is precise, but the giving is free.

The classical commentators dwell on the phrase 'I will dwell within them.' The sanctuary is external; the indwelling is internal. Building sacred space outside is the practice by which we make room inside.

This week, give something, time, attention, resources, from a place your heart actually moves toward. Notice what it builds in you.
