This week, I return to Lech Lecha, my Bar Mitzvah Parshah, while facing a departure I would never have chosen.
G-d calls Abraham to leave the familiar without revealing the itinerary with only the promise that He will show him the way. It is a call to move forward with faith, before certainty arrives. This week, that journey feels deeply personal.
Sometimes we leave because we are ready. Sometimes circumstances leave us no choice. But even when we cannot choose what happens, we can choose what we carry forward.
The hardest place to leave may not be a home. It may be the mindset that keeps us trapped in the past, replaying yesterdays and imagining the worst about tomorrow.
Our reactive mind demands answers. Faith makes room for a different question: What is the next right step?
This does not mean denying pain, excusing wrongdoing, or pretending life is fair. Resilience means allowing ourselves to acknowledge the hurt without giving up on our ability to rebuild. Not knowing where we are going sounds like a plan for unlimited opportunity and success.
With it comes an abundance of love, support and appreciation of our loved ones and faithful friends, active network and satisfied clients and shul circle.
We may not control what comes next, but with faith in Hashem, we can meet uncertainty one steady, purposeful step at a time.
