Candle Lighting: 7:08 PM EST Montreal - Tzedakah (Charity) and Mitzvah (Good Deed) Reminder
In Parshah Moses tells us that tells us that the mitzvah of Teshuvah (returning to G-d with a stronger faith) is not in Heaven and not so far away. We do not need someone else to go and find it for us. Our capacity to choose what is right is not far away, it’s already here waiting for us to act with honest words, an open heart and one next right action.
We can spend a lot of time overthinking life. We wait for the perfect sign, the perfect teacher, the perfect moment or the perfect certainty before we act. But quite often, we already know what is right. Our spiritual compass is there. It speaks quietly through our conscience, our heart and the small moments placed in front of us.
A kind word when someone is struggling. A call we have been putting off. A sincere apology. Some Torah study. A choice to listen rather than react. These may seem small, but they are not small at all. They are how we can build a life of meaning.
The journey begins when we stop looking so far away and open our hearts to what we already know we should do.
Shabbat Shalom * Am Yisrael Chai * Peace
