Candle Lighting: 7:56 PM EST Montreal, Tzedakah & Mitzvah Reminder
This week’s Parshah Re’eh reminds us that life is shaped by choices, not coincidences. Moses places before us a blessing and a curse, inviting us to recognize that every path carries consequences. While we may not understand why certain people or opportunities enter our lives, I do not believe in coincidences and these encounters are accidental. Each connection can teach us, challenge us, strengthen us, or reveal the direction we should choose.
Last year’s D’var reflected on how the company we keep shapes our values, actions and spiritual growth. Moses warns us not to imitate nations whose ways may lead us away from Hashem. This message is that the people closest to us can either multiply our light or dim it.
G-d gives us freedom, but freedom demands responsibility. And we must ask ourselves…Are our relationships helping us become wiser, kinder and more faithful to our purpose? Do they bring out the person we are striving to be?
Let’s choose connections that elevate us, reject paths that diminish us and trust that what appears coincidental may be an invitation from Hashem to choose blessing.
